Description:
The Walbrook is a ten storey new build project constructed within the height restriction imposed by St Paul’s Cathedral.
The floating suspended ceilings to the lift lobbies were installed to the highest quality maintaining a consistent 30mm margin to compliment the impressive glazed Lift Facades.
The vast Reception ceiling proved quite a challenge, in so far as the 350m² area was greater than the 200m² recommendation by STO to complete in one application.
Working closely throughout the project with the Design Team, a meandering movement joint was introduced to compliment the lines of the external façade and split the ceiling into two manageable areas to apply the STO Top Coat.
Another factor that had to be considered was the whole of the ceiling is being utilised as an active plenum. The potential of pattern staining was resolved with the Design Team by changing the specification to a STO board with a rear foil faced lining whilst still maintaining the acoustic requirements.
